Blanefield to Glen Goyne Distillery

Saturday 31st. January 09

Normally this walk would have taken us from St. Kessogs Church Blanefield, all the way to the picturesque village of Killearn, but for a change, on this chilly, dry, though breezy January morning it was decided to make Glen Goyne distillery the turning point for the seventeen ramblers who turned out for it today. I won't bore you with any details about this walk as they can be found, if you are interested, under the "Old Walks" tab on the Wanderers web page. There's notes for Saturday's March 15th. & July 19th. 2008 in there if you want a read. Could I just say and I'm sure you will all agree that it was great to see on the walk with us the sprightly 82 year old "Mr. Frank McGarry" pacing it out in his usual way. I don't know about you lot but I've sometimes got difficulty in keeping up with Frank myself, he reminds me of that other great distillery man "Johnnie Walker" who's "Still going strong" after goodness knows how many years. So nice to see you out with us Frank enjoying the countryside. There's someone else who's "Still going Strong" and always there to meet us at some point in our walks, our very own "Sherpa Sadie not, I'm sad to say with a Glen Goyne Malt" but with her delightful Tea & Coffee along with those home made Fruit Scones mmmMMM !!!!!.

Joe Roche.
